I've been studying.........
by bchapp ini have been studying with the jw's for several years.
they have been pressuring me to become one of them, but something seems to be holding me back, instinct maybe?
i agree a lot of their teaching are good, and i'm sure are the truth but here are a few of the things that bother me: jw's use the scripture hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the gathering of yourselves together...... to justify their meetings.

And, of course, YK is right in saying that God expects us to use our God-given brains to discern stuff. Remember that
when you're reading the next WT copy. And I concur with Sunscapes. Just keep that in mind when you encounter the next pile of bull manure apostates try to unload on you. LOL / You know

Metatron says:
Jesus AVOIDED using either name and so did the Apostle Paul!
That's simply not true. At Luke 4:18 Jesus directly read from Isaiah 61:1 where it says: "Jehovah's spirit is upon me....
As for Paul supposedly avoiding using the divine name, at 1 Corinthians 10:26 the apostle quoted verbatim Psalm 24:1, which says: "To Jehovah belong the earth and that which fills it."
The name Jesus literally means: "Jehovah is salvation." Clearly, then, you are wrong.

You asked:
They have been pressuring me to become one of them, but something seems to be holding me back, instinct maybe?
Instinct shouldn't be a deciding factor. After all, animals are governed by instinct. Jehovah expects us to use our powers of reason to discern from the Bible and determine what his will is for us.JW's use the scripture Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the gathering of yourselves together...... to justify their meetings. Did the early Christians gather together for 5 meetings a week every week?
It seems that in some cases the 1st century Christians met every day. For example Acts 19:9 says that Paul gave daily talks to the brothers in a school auditiorium. That's not to say that that was always the case, the fact is there was no set pattern in Scripture. The thing is though that the purpose of "not forsaking the gathering together" was for the purpose of encouraging fellow believers, so as often as they gathered, be it daily, or weekly, or whatever, the principle is that we would want to be there. Then there's the issue about going door to door, they say that's how it was done in Jesus' day, but did Jesus use car groups?
They didn't have cars in Jesus' day, but of course you knew that. Jesus did, however, send them out by twos---on foot. And he instructed them to enter into any home that welcomed them, and to leave any home or village that didn't. That's simple enough isn't it? They went from town to town and house to house. It doesn't really matter what method of transportation is used as long as we go, as Jesus commanded. Why does a God how loves peace call himself "Jehovah of Armies"? Or shouldn't it really be Yahweh?
Jehovah also refers to himself as "a manly person of war." That's not inconsistent with his being the God of peace. Eccelesiates 3:8 says that there is "a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace." Jehovah loves peace, but the fact is that there are many wicked creatures, some human, some super-human, who hate God and who always fight against Jehovah. At some point, Jehovah is going to have to confront Satan and his minions head-on in what is known in the Bible as "the war of the great day of God Almighty"---also called the war of Armageddon. And then there's the Sabath, why do the sneer at other religions that follow the Sabath, isn't it important? How many times is the Sabbath mentioned in the bible as compared to say Birthdays? Does anybody have any suggestions, comments or answers?
The Sabbath was part of the Law that God gave to the Jews. When Jesus was sacrificed he brought an end to the Jewish Law covenant that Jehovah had established with Israel. The books of Romans, Galatians, Colossians, and Hebrews, go in to great detail in establishing that Christians are not under any obligation to follow Jewish law./ You Know

How many found the REAL truth from the internet?
by Leander inif it was'nt for the internet i would still be stuck in the endless cycle of drone like meeting attendance and field service.
(technically i'm still in but not for long) i'm really glad that some ex-jws took the time to speak about the real truth.
for the longest time i always thought that what i was taught was correct, i never even felt the need to question it or validate it with actual facts.

When I learned the Truth abou the Troof, I was physically ill for several days, with flu-like symptoms.
That's nothing, when Habakkuk was given a vision of the horrific genocidal holocaust that is going to befall this system of things he wrote: "I heard, and my belly began to be agitated; at the sound my lips quivered; rottenness began to enter into my bones; and in my situation I was agitated, that I should quietly wait for the day of distress, for his coming up to the people, that he may raid them."

Jesus - Michael or God?
by Dawn ini've been researching this issue for myself - it's a doctrine i was still having problems understanding - is he or isn't he.... i came across a couple of interesting scriptures that i had not noticed before so thought i'd share them with ya'll:.
1) genesis 1:26 - then god said, "let us make man in our image..." i was taught as a jw that god was speaking to jesus (michael) here.
if that's true, and jesus/michael is an angel - that would mean that god created angels in his image also (since i refers to "image" as singular - it doesn't say images).

Yerusalem:
Try starting in Hebrews. At Hebrew's 1:5 it says, "To which of the angels did God ever say, 'you are my son, this day I have begotten you', or again, 'I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son' Again Heb 1:8 "But of the Son he [God the father] says, 'Thy throne O God is for ever and ever' Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus was not an angel. Nothing in the bible says the Jesus was an angel. WHy would Jesus have two names?
You are wrong. When Jehovah spoke to Jesus saying "You are my Son," Jesus wasn't an angel. Jehovah spoke those words when Jesus was a man of flesh and blood---when he was just baptised. Jesus at that point became born-again. True, he was always Jehovah's son, even as an angel and as a human from birth, but his miraculously being born from holy spirit was an entirely new aspect. No angel has even been born again. So, on the day Jesus became the Christ Jehovah became his Father in a very special way. And the reason Jesus has two names is because he was lived in two different worlds. Obviously, before humans became sinful and needed salvation, Jesus would not have born the name that means "Jehovah is Salvation." / You Know -

God only has one image. His image is reflected in humans and angels. Both humans and angels were created as sons of God. Jesus, however, has the unique distinction of being "the exact representation of his very being." Hebrews 1:3

Watchtower leadership say We Don't Make Rules!
by ozziepost inan announcement on the official web-site of jehovah's witnesses is causing some 'eyebrows to be raised'.. the watchtower society have announced that they "avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the scriptures, and they do not follow traditions that contradict bible teachings.
emphasis is placed on personal application of bible principles and the value of a sound, bible-based conscience.. this comes as a surprise to many thousands in the jehovah's witness community who have become accustomed to the changing rules and regulations imposed compulsorily on its members.. it should be noted in the watchtower society's statement that "emphasis is placed on personal application of bible principles".
this will come as a surprise to many of its members.
